Let me start by saying that I am a huge fan of skin oils. I love oils for skin, it gets to target dryness, ageing, eczema and more at the same time! Especially in this winter, adding an oil to your skin care routine is brilliant! I have only ever tried “natural” oils, nothing synthetic.
Thanks to Lipidol for having thought of me to give my two cents on their overnight face oil.
Before you embark on this oil journey there are a few things you need to make peace with. You might break out, it might not work for you, expensive doesn’t mean it works and if it doesn’t address your issues, seek medical help (as with all products). Truthfully there is a serious hype around oils lately, a cult following and people who swear that oils cured all their skin problems. Well oils are great, honestly and I would recommend them at any time. Just remember quality and skin type.
At first impression the packaging was perfect, simple and minimal. The way I like it. The eye mask included really added the cherry on top for me. It smells amazing! Ingredient include Ylang Ylang and black pepper oil.
In the first week I used the oil, I broke out so badly. I had zits on a few spots of my face. I was so mad. I scanned the ingredients list and saw that the oil contains Liquid paraffin ;which I am hot and cold about, and isostearyl isostearate which I have read about quiet a bit in skin journals. Well they kind of say to stay away. Thing is with these things there are so many contradictions!
After deciding to continue with my informed decision, I headed over the net to see other reviews and there seem to be a love hate thing going on with these products.
The oil was lovely, my skin felt nourished and soft. I had no dryness in my dry areas and my skin felt great. Unfortunately I was breaking out and after my visit to my dermatologist I had to stop and treat the pimples.
Personally; I think this product would be good for very dry skin or skin that does not retain moisture but for skin that is prone to break outs/ acne like mine I wouldn’t recommend it to you. Am not saying its a bad product am just saying it is on the “might not work for you” list.
I understand that Lipidol is from the same company that gave us Bio oil. I have to say that they are steps ahead in skin care. I am so impressed by the quality that this local oil brand is giving us. The affordability as well is a big plus. I won’t mind trying out their other products, I understand there are 6 oils. (Support local!!)
